Bernard Squarcini

Bernard Squarcini, born on 12 December 1955 in Rabat, Morocco, is the current head of the Direction centrale du renseignement intérieur (DCRI), France's counter-espionage and counter-terrorism Intelligence agency.

Squarcini entered the police in 1979. In 1981, he was made head of the local branch of the Direction centrale des renseignements généraux (RG) in Brest. By 1993, he was second in command of the RG on the national level. In 2008, he was made head of the Direction de la surveillance du territoire (DST), then of the DCRI when the latter was created by the merger of the DST and the RG.[1] [2]
